The Middle School is designed for students in grades 6 – 10. Learners develop a breadth and depth of knowledge and are encouraged to flourish physically, emotionally, and ethically by implementing a broad and balanced educational curriculum, all students are able to reach their potential. Through the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP), students learn how to learn by developing critical thinking skills. Learners are encouraged to take action, and act responsibly in a rapidly changing, globalized world.

The Middle School serves students from an array of nationalities, we offer a broad range of exploratory, language, and music courses in addition to a our academic core. The co-curricular program includes a variety of sports, fine and performing arts, and service organizations that advances both academic and effective student development, quality teaching, and a supportive school environment.

Middle school at Westhill Institute begins in grade 6 and finishes at the end of grade 8. However, the academic framework that middle school is prescribed to, the Middle Years Programme (MYP), spans two additional years and finishes in grade 10. Students in middle school at Westhill Institute are fully immersed in English instruction, with Spanish, French, and Korean offered as foreign language electives. The standards that are taught in middle school for our core subjects are pulled from the CCSS for math and language, the Massachusetts History and Social Science Framework for studies into individuals and societies, and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for science and technology.
