Community Announcement

Dear parents,

Currently, the country is reinforcing preventative measures in the face of the global situation COVID-19.  To help mitigate this and other communicable diseases in schools, it is necessary that certain measures be taken from The Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) who has announced that we will not have classroom activities at all educational levels from March 20 until April 20, 2020.

All Westhill school events such as civic events, honors, sports, and community activities will be suspended until further notice.

Actions at school

Our community does not officially present any positive case of COVID 19, and since Tuesday March 17th, basic filters have been carried out prior to entering the school. Our nursing staff, together with teachers, supervises the conditions of the students and staff upon entry.

If it is detected that the student or family members have any of the following symptoms: fever, headache, sore throat, cough, difficulty breathing, eye infection, runny nose, gastric problems or any other illness that may cause a contagion to other students and members of the educational community, we appreciate you for not sending them to school.

Distance Learning for the next weeks

Lockers for all levels will need to be opened and emptied before students leave for the quarantine period to ensure a thorough cleaning process while students are not on campus. If you are unable to come to open and empty your lockers by 3:00 pm on Friday the locks will then be cut on Monday, March 23rd.

DISTANCE LEARNING:

We will continue to respect our curriculum and to carry out the planning of educational learning experiences that are a part of the courses from the beginning of the 2109 – 2020 school year.  This will be accomplished through the implementation of a Distance Learning Plan.

  • Distance Learning will look slightly different depending on the age of your child. We have done our best to take into consideration the extra work this puts on parents, especially when thinking that many of you have multiple children at Westhill.
  • A calendar has been made with the schedule of the virtual online classes for the following weeks and this calendar will continue until normal classes resume. The platform and the planning for the different school levels have been sent to all parents through our communication platform Algebraix.
  • Directors and teachers will maintain constant communication with students and parents through Algebraix.

Stay Healthy

Raise awareness and follow the preventive measures:

  1. Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use 70% alcohol-based antiseptic solutions and do the same with minors. Both means have similar effectiveness.
  2. When coughing or sneezing, cover the nose and mouth with the inner corner of the arm. This technique should be taught to minors.
  3. Do not greet with a kiss, a handshake or a hug. Use the greeting of the heart.
  4. Do not touch the nose, mouth, and eyes.
  5. Do not share food, drinks, glasses, cutlery, pencils, colors, or personal hygiene utensils such as a toothbrush.
  6. Clean and disinfect surfaces, railings, tables and objects of daily use, with sanitizing products and soaps.
  7. Refrain from the use of drinking fountains since the nozzles and keypads represent a risk. Bring your own bottled water, please.
