Why Westhill
Westhill Institute members
As a member of the Westhill community, you obtain access to Westhill Institute’s world class facilities span across four unique campuses all in Mexico City. We have a Pre-Kindergarten/Preschool campus, an elementary and preschool campuses (Monte Carpatos, Lomas and Santa Fe) and a middle and high school campus (Santa Fe) offering grade levels from Preschool/Nursery School through 12th grade. Our Santa Fe campus boasts a neoclassical architecture style and sits iconically atop a hill within a secured school zone. It is equipped with a semi-olympic style swimming pool, a large outdoor amphitheatre, a spacious indoor gymnasium, two in-house cafeterias, and large classrooms. Our Monte Carpatos campus is located in quiet neighborhoods within the Lomas de Chapultepec community. This campus offers slightly smaller class sizes for a more personalized learning experience.
The International Baccalaureate
The IB has only authorized 9 schools in Mexico city to provide the full IB continuum (PYP, MYP, and DP) and Westhill is one of them. An IB education gives students distinct advantages by building their critical thinking skills, nurturing their curiosity, and developing their ability to solve complex problems.
The IB’s programmes are different from other curricula because they:
- encourage students of all ages to think critically and challenge assumptions
- develop independently of government and national systems, incorporating quality practice from research and our global community of schools
- encourage students of all ages to consider both local and global contexts
- develop multilingual students.
(IBO, 2021)

Inclusive for Everyone
With a healthy multicultural mix of classmates from all over the world represented in the student population, a Westhill education not only grooms students for academic and professional success but also provides each student with numerous daily opportunities to understand and value the cultures and traditions of others. More than anything else, Westhill Institute is a true melting pot of cultures, religions, languages, and special moments when children experience the treasured idea that all people can, in fact, live together in peace and harmony through a cultivated understanding and authentic appreciation for diversity and international mindedness. Westhill’s staff is made up of approximately 25% foreign nationals who represent the United States, Canada, the Cameroon, the United Kingdom, France, Haiti, Honduras, Venezuela, Chile, Korea, and Nicaragua.Foreign teachers provide an invaluable international and culturally diverse perspective to the subjects that they teach. Students learn to see an issue, an event, or an interpretation from multiple viewpoints and, as a result, are very often more open to accepting the reasoned positions and well-founded opinions expressed by their classmates.
Nearly 30 years ago, the founders of Westhill Institute believed that the school should not only be a place of diversity and multiculturalism but also a community of learners that includes and embraces those children who may have special learning challenges. For these children, Westhill is a genuine haven of understanding and acceptance. For nearly 30 years, Westhill has been a pioneer in Mexico for the advancement of special needs services and admission practices that promote inclusion and acceptance of an array of learning needs. With trained special needs counselors at each of the three school campuses, children with special learning requirements are nurtured and valued as an integral part of the diverse student population. Because of small class sizes (no more than 18 students per classroom) and a low student-teacher ratio (8:1), the academic programs and classroom teaching techniques can be modified and tailored to meet the individual needs of students from a wide range of achievements.
