A message from our High School Director

Over the last four years we have significantly raised our academic level. Westhill high school students are now far ahead of American students in math, reading and language usage in English. They are also competitive or ahead of the international IB averages in the humanities and sciences. They are accepted at quality universities throughout the world, and this year’s graduating class received over $6 million in scholarship offers.

We look to continue improving in these areas as we move forward, but we also want to improve the student experience this year. We will be adding study periods for all students as well as non-graded extracurricular activities that will take place during normal school hours. Students will be given more options and agency this year so that we can have balanced, competitive and happy students.

Curriculum

Middle school at Westhill Institute begins in grade 6 and finishes at the end of grade 8. However, the academic framework that middle school is prescribed to, the Middle Years Programme (MYP), spans two additional years and finishes in grade 10. Students in middle school at Westhill Institute are fully immersed in English instruction, with Spanish, French, and Korean offered as foreign language electives.

The standards that are taught in middle school for our core subjects are pulled from the CCSS for math and language, the Massachusetts History and Social Science Framework for studies into individuals and societies, and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for science and technology.
