Westhill Teachers must:

  • Be able to maintain a classroom environment that ensures effective learning; analyze and use data to best incorporate the needs of all students within their lessons and classroom environment.
  • Communicate with students in a manner that enhances student learning and understanding.
  • Incorporate IB skills and Common Core Standards when writing and implementing lesson plans.
  • Be able to work productively through collaborative interactions with colleagues, parents and community members.
  • Demonstrate willingness to examine and implement change as appropriate.
  • Have experience teaching across a breadth of learning abilities, including ESL students.
  • Spanish Is NOT REQUIRED.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with state/province/national teaching certificate.
  • If teacher preparation and degree are from Mexico: Licenciatura in education and/or pedagogy from a SEP/UNAM-approved institution with certification (cédula profesional, CENEVAL).
Preferable for the positions
  • Common Core Experience.
Qualification and previous experience required
  • Two years of successful teaching experience.
  • Teacher Certification.

Westhill Institute is seeking a committed, reflective, and student-centered Elementary Homeroom Teacher to join our Lower School and Upper School team respectively. We are looking for an educator who understands that elementary years are foundational; academically, socially, and emotionally. The ideal candidate creates a structured yet nurturing classroom environment where curiosity is encouraged, inquiry is guided, and every child feels seen, challenged, and supported. Our Lower School values collaboration, high expectations, and meaningful learning experiences that foster independence, responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with school curriculum and IB PYP framework (where applicable).
  • Design inquiry-driven units that promote critical thinking, communication, and conceptual understanding.
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners and varying academic levels.
  • Establish clear routines, expectations, and classroom systems that promote student independence and accountability.
  • Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and maintain clear communication with families.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, and student support services to ensure student success.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, academic progress, and required documentation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
  • Valid teaching certification.
  • Minimum of two years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with IB PYP preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) preferred but not mandatory.

Westhill Institute is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative Middle School Librarian to support learning and teaching within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). The ideal candidate will foster a love of reading, inquiry, and research while supporting students and teachers in developing information literacy, research skills, and a culture of reading aligned with the PYP philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote reading for pleasure, inquiry, and learning through intentional programming, book selection, and library initiatives.
  • Support students in developing research skills, including locating, evaluating, and using information responsibly.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate library resources and inquiry skills into classroom units and learning experiences.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and well-organized library environment that encourages curiosity, agency, and independence.
  • Support digital and information literacy, including ethical use of information and age-appropriate digital citizenship.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum academic requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Education, or a related field (with professional license).
  • Preferred: Experience working in IB PYP or international school settings.
  • Experience: 2–3 years of experience as a librarian or in a related educational role with elementary-aged students.
